I have been wanting to make a ruffled table cloth for our table for awhile now! I finally got around to it and thought it would be fun to share with everyone how I made it so you can make your own!! My table is 72″ by 41 1/2″ so that is what I based all my measurements off of. I used 5 to 5 1/2 yards of a linen type fabric.
1. Measure your table and cut out a piece for the top of the table. My fabric was 42″ wide and I didn’t want a seam anywhere on the table top so that leads me to step 2…
2. I cut 6″ strips of a different fabric by the length of the table cloth to sew on to have something to put the ruffles on. If your table is narrower or you use a fabric that is wider and hangs down over the table more you can skip this step. Then either serge, hem, or use a zig zag stitch to prevent fraying.
3. My table is not perfectly rectangle so to make the table cloth hang nice I had to lay the fabric on the table to mark the diagonal then cut it out. If your table is rectangle or square skip this and it makes it much easier! If not just lay on table and mark and cut where there is a diagonal.
4. Then lay the strips onto the main table cloth with right sides together pin and sew!
