Awhile back for Christmas one year I got my mom a Simply Said quote for her wall. “The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing.” The older I get, the more true this seems to me. I am sure many of us had a big dose of family time this weekend. Whether it was with immediate family, or a huge family get together. Loren and I were able to travel back to my hometown and spend Easter with my family this year. I love spending time with family on the holidays, but since our families both live in separate states, many times we aren’t able to spend it with our parents and siblings. This was the first Easter we have spent with my family since being married. If you live in the same state as both of your parents you are so blessed! It always aches my heart to have to choose which family to spend what with. And half the time we don’t go anywhere on holidays. Of course Christmas we always spend with one of our families. I told Loren on the way home, it would be so nice if we could see BOTH families for the holidays. This year will be especially hard because we have decided not to travel very much at all. There are so many things going on that we are going to stay planted mostly in Illinois this year.
As I look back at this past weekend, I am warmed by the love our family shares. I love sitting around the table after a meal and just talking and laughing about things. I love the crafts my mom always puts on for the 8 grandkids. Does your family have any traditions? I know this year I was particularly homesick for my home on Easter. Easter weekend just seems to bring with it so many traditions. Even though time seems to pass by way to quickly, I am so glad we got to spend our weekend in Milford. I hope you all had an amazing Easter!!
