Are you content with who you are? Or do you wish you were someone different? The truth is you are exactly who you are supposed to be and you have a purpose that no one else can fill. It can be easy to feel insecure or unnoticed. To start believing that your purpose in life isn’t anything special. That’s not the truth.
John 8:32- “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
It is so easy to listen to the lies that we can tell ourselves. The lie that….
I am not good enough to do that….
I won’t succeed if I try this….
I can’t do it as good as that person….
Nothing I do is ever noticed so why bother…
I have no purpose here…..
Someone already does it way better than I ever could….
Yes it is easy to fall into the prison bars that lies can put up around us. It is so easy to stay there. We feel safe. It is known. We are scared to step out into the unknown. We are scared that our fears will become reality. But in truth if we stop believing these lies, we can become free. Free to do what we are called to do. To try things that we are scared to try. Free to love ourselves for who we are and what we were created to do. I am not saying this freedom will be all roses and sunshine. I am saying it will be worth it. There will be struggles, and times when we feel we are not being noticed. We live in a fallen world that will never be perfect. The joy that comes with doing what you were meant to do and being uniquely you will far outweigh all the struggles it took to get there. When we stay in our prison of lies we won’t be content with who we are. We will etch in our minds that we are not good enough. We will unconsciously long for the freedom that comes with being who we were designed to be.
It takes us all to make the world go around. Think how boring this world would be if we were all alike. Don’t be scared to let your personality shine, don’t be scared to do what you were called to do. Don’t feel discouraged if you don’t feel significant or noticed. God notices, he knows your heart and will bless you for it.
The truth is that you are good enough. You are a unique person and no one can fill your shoes. Be brave, use your talents, and be yourself!
Scripture to Ponder:
Pslam 139:14- “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works…”
Jeremiah 1:5- ” Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou calmest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee…”
Homework for the Heart:
Read the book of Ruth.
-Some points to ponder:
*If you were Ruth would you be scared to follow Naomi and leave everything you knew? Did she let that fear stop her from doing what she felt was right?
*What kind of attitude did Ruth have? A willing heart or a grudging heart?
* How was Ruth and Naomi blessed for Ruth’s stance on being brave?
-Take a minute to ponder what you are fearful of doing that you feel lead to do. Make a goal to replace a lie with a stand toward the truth.
