I think this topic really ties in with yesterday’s topic. Joseph is a perfect example of trusting God completely. Yet it is hard to do. I think it is crucial to work on this though in our quest toward contentment. There is so many things to worry about, it can eat our mind. We don’t even know if those things will happen. So instead of worrying about all the what if’s, lets try to trust God more. We know he only has our best interest in mind. Joseph trusted him and he was able to help many people from starving to death! No we can’t spend our days worrying about something that may never happen. Whatever we face, whatever happens, we can know that God will be by our side. We will have grace to get through it. It may be scary, but it is okay to let go of your worries and give them to God.
Fear and worry can hold us back from so many great things in life. While we are distracted with what might happen, we may miss out on something great happening right now. We will miss the daily joys and blessings life gives us. We may miss out on opportunities that come our way. If Joseph was too busy worrying about the what if’s he may have missed the opportunity to interpret Pharaoh’s dream. Such a small little opportunity turned into something huge for Joseph. Let’s not miss out on opportunities that seem small. You never know how big they can really be!
Scripture to ponder:
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thing heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Homework for the heart:
Take time to identify the things you worry about the most. The areas that are the hardest to trust God in. Lay them at God’s feet. Ask God to show you opportunities whether great or small. Be brave and do them even if they are scary. You never know what God has in store for you.
