My sweet Kina-
You are 2 months old today! You are getting bigger and bigger. I have finally put away all but 2 of your newborn sleepers, although you are still able to wear newborn onesies and pants. You are now in size one diapers, though it hasn’t been all that long that I switched you. And yes your hair is still as crazy as ever! We love you more and more each and every day. You have been pretty fussy when you are awake. We have tried gas medicine, gripe water, and mommy has kept a food journal also to try and see if it is something she is eating. So far no luck. So we finally decided to take you to the chiropractor. We are hoping he can help you. Despite all the fussiness you are the sweetest little girl and we couldn’t love you more. You are so very active and never really sit still. You are constantly kicking your legs and moving your arms. I think I may have to buy you a bouncer for when you get a little older, I think you will fall in love with it!
Height: 22 1/2″
Weight: 9 pounds 9 ounces
Head: 15 1/2″
Naps: Has been napping for about an 1- 1 1/2 hours after each feeding.
Feeding: Bottle feeding every 3 hours and eating around 4 ounces each time.
Clothing: 0-3 month and a few newborn’s.
Eating: Wow have we had a roller coaster with the whole feeding thing! We started out on the nursing shield, then weaned you off of that, only to fight you for 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours each feeding. Many tears were shed at night. Finally we decided to pump and bottle feed you. It has been going so much better. I do still try to nurse you from time to time in hopes that you will get it! You are pretty gassy, so you need to be burped a ton. Lately you have been really spitting up again so I have to keep you upright for quite awhile. I think thats why you like for me to wear you lately, because you are upright. You also love love love food. You slug your bottle down like nobody’s business. And every time we try and burp you, you act like we are never going to feed you again!
Sleeping: I have been trying to loosely follow the Babywise plan. Up until a week ago there was no sleeping schedule. I was really devoted to trying to get this nursing thing to work. When I decided to pump, the schedule began! So during the days I keep you awake awhile after feeding, then lay you down for a nap around 1- 1 1/2 hours long. It doesn’t always work that way but these past couple days have been pretty good! At nights you usually go to bed around 9PM then wake up around 1-3AM then again at 5-7AM. I keep hoping each night that you will decide to sleep longer stretches! You really fight sleep, in the middle of the night that is not to fun for mommy and daddy.
Development: You have just the sweetest big eyes, they melt my heart! You just really look at and study everything now. You love looking all around, especially when we go to a new place. You have a pretty strong neck, when you are upright you just turn and look all around. You also love sitting on daddy’s lap facing out. You just kick and swing your arms while looking around. You have been cooing and making different noises recently. That has been so fun to see. When I lay you under your toy mat you will bat at the animals, then just look. You eyes will get even bigger sometimes when I move the animal for you. You can also roll from your back to your side with great ease, we are wondering when you will roll all the way over.
A few things you are loving right now:
-Laying on your changing pad. You just love kicking around and smiling up at us on it!
-Riding in a baby carrier with mommy. You just love looking all around at everything. We went to Aldi’s recently and you just looked all around then finally when we were checking out you laid your head on my chest and went to sleep. You refuse to let me put your head in the head support when you are awake, only when you fall asleep can I sneak it on. You love knowing what’s going on.
-You love sitting on daddy’s lap facing out. You two look so cute just hanging out that way. You just look all around while waving your arms back and forth and kicking your legs.
A few things your not to fond of:
-Sleeping through the night.
-Taking naps in the evening. When daddy gets home, you are all eyes, naps are for the birds at that point 😉
-Nursing. Mommy has had to start pumping and bottle feeding you. She is hoping you will decide you want to nurse again in the near future. Until then we just keep trying!
A few things you are teaching us:
-To just go with it. Daddy has always been much more that way than mommy. You are teaching her that it doesn’t all have to be by a plan. Because with you there is no plan, we just take life as we get it. And the more you are teaching me this, the more I am enjoying it.
-To follow our heart, not the book. To take bits and pieces of advice and mesh them to form what is best for us. Mommy tried really hard to follow books and advice, but she is learning that it may not always be possible.
You do a million things each day that melt our hearts and make us love you more. We are so blessed to be your parents!
