My sweet Kina-
This last month you have changed so much. You have become much happier and have really started to notice your surroundings. You are so cuddly now! The first two months did not seem to go very fast, but I feel like this last month has flown by. I just love the stage you are at right now. I kind of wish I could pause it for awhile. I am looking forward to other stages, but right now you are just so cuddly small and lovable. I just want to cuddle you all day!
Naps: Takes a good 1 1/2 to 2 hour nap morning and afternoon. Then takes one or two more 30-45 min naps in the evening.Feeding: Bottle feeding every 3 hours and eating around 4 ounces each time.Clothing: 0-3 month
Eating: At about 2 1/2 months old we tried formula. I heard a few people say that when they tried formula on their fussy baby it was night and day difference. I kept pumping while we were trying it out just incase you didn’t do well on it. You completely changed once you were on formula for 2 days. You were content and happy to just hang out by yourself. You started sleeping better and didn’t require me to hold you constantly. I was still reluctant to switch. I had started taking you to the chiropracter a week earlier and you had started to improve from that too. I took you 3 times a week for 2 weeks. They worked on a few different things for you and one goal was to get you to latch again. At the end they checked you latch and found nothing holding you back. But you still were not nursing at all. That is when we decided to completely switch to formula. You were so much happier on it and pumping takes me forever. It was really hard for me to make that decision, but it is what is best for our family and you are so happy now. I have lots of milk stored in the freezer so I am planning on feeding you a breast milk bottle once a day. So far though when I have tried that you were fussy those days. So Im not sure if it is coincidence or the breast milk makes you fussy.
Sleeping: You have been going to bed around 8 and sleeping till around 8-8:30 usually getting up twice during the night in that time frame. For naps you usually take a good 2 hour nap in the morning and then 1 1/2 ish in the afternoon. Then usually around 2 more cat naps around 30-45 mins each. You really need your sleep, if I mess when your naps you get pretty grouchy! I am now able to lay you in your crib, hold your paci in for awhile and pat you on the back to get you to sleep. You sleep really good in your crib now. You may fuss for a little bit before going to sleep but you will go to sleep now wihtout me rocking you and constantly holding you. It is really nice, it lets me get more done around the house! At first it was kind of weird, I didn’t know what to do with all the extra time!
Development: You have become a ball of fun!! You are starting to become aware of many different things. You discovered your tongue a couple weeks ago and you were literally licking everything. One morning when I was watching you on the monitor as you woke up, you started licking the sheets. It made me chuckle. Anything we put in front of your mouth you would lick. You have also started really cooing. I take videos of you cooing and talking then play them to you. You just coo right back at the “baby on the phone”. You get a kick out of watching videos of yourself. You noticed yourself in the mirror the other day also. You would laugh at yourself, then move and just be in awe that the “other baby” moved too. As far as moving around you rolled from your belly to your back at the end of November. You also scoot all over the place. One day I left you in your crib, and I came back and you made a 90 degree turn. You have also really started to grab things. I gave you a toy with lots of little loops and things to grab, you had fun moving it all around. You also grab your blanket and move it all around when you are sitting in your bouncer. I think you are starting to recognize similarities in your day too. I always say the same thing to you before I put you down for a nap, and have 3 songs that I sing that are designated “sleepy songs.” When I start singing them to you, or say “it’s time for a nappy” you instantly start fussing. You know what is coming next!
A few things you are loving right now:
-Your changing pad. It seriously is still your favorite place in the world. You just kick and kick and kick when you are on it. You start getting excited as you are being laid down.
-Holding hands. It seriously is the sweetest thing. You grab onto my hand when you are eating or going to sleep. It melts my heart.
-Sucking on your fingers. Sometimes you try to shove your fingers in your mouth along with your paci. Can’t get to much of a good thing right?
A few things your not to fond of:
-Being bored. You love action, and get bored very easy when nothing is going on.
-Being burped. Half the time you get really made when we try to burp you. You have given some mean throat punches and pinches when you are angry about being burped!
-Being put down to sleep. I have a sleepy song I sing you before you go to sleep and you know that is your sleepy song. You get this really sad look followed by a cry.
A few things you are teaching us:
-How fun it really is to be a parent, now that you are so happy and not really fussy. You have caused many laughs and brought so much joy to us!
You continue to make us love you more and more, even though I’m not sure how it is possible. Sometimes I feel like my heart may burst with all the love for you little girl. You are so special to us.
