My sweet Kina-
A half of a year you have been with us! I can’t believe it. Everyone keeps telling us before you know it she is going to be going off to college! Time is moving way to fast for me. So I am really trying to slow down and enjoy every moment. I love your cuddles, your smiles, and your goofy moments. You brighten every single day and I am so thankful for you.
Height: 26 3/8″ (70th percentile)
Weight: 16 pounds 10 ounces (70th percentile)
Head: 17 1/4″
Naps: 3 Naps a day. Sleeping from 8PM-6AM
Feeding: Bottle feeding every 4 hours and eating around 8 ounces each time. Solids two times a day.
Clothing: 3-6 month
Eating: Roughly every four hours you eat 7-9 ounces. In the morning you get a solid breakfast first usually consisting of cereal and a fruit (pureed). Then you drink about 3-6 ounces of formula. You then eat 7-9 ounces every four hours after that. When we eat supper you also eat pureed supper (vegetable and a fruit). I have been making your baby food and it is pretty easy! I just freeze the pureed food in ice cube trays then get out 3-4 ice cubes for supper. I usually do 2-3 veggies and 1-2 fruits. You for sure take after your dad, because you are a total fruit girl. When you don’t want to eat your veggies alone, I mix fruit with it and you are begging for more. So far your favorite fruits are apples and plums. You really like sweet potatoes too. You also get very impatient when I am making your bottle. When you decide you are hungry, you are hungry! The other day I decided to hold you while making your bottle. I didn’t even have half my scoops in when you reached down grabbed the bottle and tried to bring it to your mouth.
Sleeping: This is the lucky month where you finally sleep all night. Let me tell you it is glorious! The start of the month you were still waking to eat. I was torn because I didn’t really know if it was habit or if you really were hungry. I didn’t know if we should let you cry it out or not. Thankfully you sort of decided for us. You had been going around 5-6 hours in the night without eating, but one night you woke up 3 hours after I fed you. It was 11:00 at night and I decided you are going to have to tough it out. I changed your diaper and put you back in your crib. You cried about 45min and then went to sleep. You slept until 7:20 in the morning. So I decided it was probably more of a routine than absolute hunger. We decided to stick with it and let you go all night without a bottle. You really only cried one more night before deciding you didn’t need a bottle. From there it was waking up for your paci and a diaper change. Then eventually you would go one night without waking, and the next waking. And now it is no waking up. It is so amazing! I do fight you in the morning because you have been getting up at 6:00AM and refuse to go back to sleep. You are usually grumpy when I get you up, so that is a fight but hey I will gladly take that over night waking! I have never been more thankful for a full night of sleep than I am now 🙂
Development: Oh you are getting so big I can hardly handle it! At the end of this month you started sitting. You can just sit and play with toys now. You also can roll all over the place to get anywhere you want. I can tell you really want to crawl. You get your knees under you and try really hard to go forward, but still don’t know what to do with your hands. We will see how long it takes you to figure that out. You put everything into your mouth and are always searching for something new to play with. It is so fun to watch you learn and grow. You absolutely love when we read you books! You try to touch anything you can possibly touch. We had a lamp on your dresser that had dangly beads on it. You would arch your back and scoot up to touch it while I was attempting to change you. You can do some serious back bends! We took the lamp off because it was just so distracting. A couple days later daddy randomly put it back to see what you would do. The instant you saw him brining it up you threw yourself to it. You also have a favorite burp rag. Your burp rags are in a wire basket on your wall. Daddy will stand you up and you are eye level with the burp rags. You always grab for that same one. So Daddy moved it in different spots. Yep, you still go for that one even in a different spot. You are such a goofy child, you make us laugh every single day.
A few things you are loving right now:
-Reading books. Touches the pages and looks at them very intently.
-Learning new things. When you learn something new, you do it proudly constantly for about 1-2 days. You were so proud when you learned to put in your own paci.
-Your jumper. You are happy in that thing for quite a long time!
-Jumping in general. You jump in my arms when I am holding you, you move your legs in a jumping motion when daddy holds you over head, you jump when we stand you on the ground. Your a little jumper!
-Grabbing things, very quickly might I add.
A few things your not to fond of:
-Not being able to crawl
A few things you are teaching us:
How much of a blessing and miracle it is to have a healthy happy baby.
Oh but mom, I would rather chew on the curtains!
