My sweet Kina-
It is so fun to watch you grow and change. I still can’t believe how fast you learn new things. I was just looking back on your 5 months pictures, and it’s crazy how much you changed even in looks since just 2 months ago. I love the way you are always so happy and smiley, and I can’t get enough of your chubby cheeks and little dimple. You light up our world!
Naps: 3 Naps a day. Sleeping at night from 7:30-8PM to 6:30AM
Feeding: Bottle feeding every 4 hours and eating around 6 ounces each time. Solids three times a day.
Clothing: 6 month and a few 6-9 month
Eating: Roughly every four hours you eat 4-9 ounces. In the morning you get a solid breakfast first usually consisting of cereal and a fruit. We introduced you to chunks of food this months so it is a mix of pureed and chunks. Then you drink about 3-6 ounces of formula. You then eat 6-9 ounces every four hours after that. You now join mommy eating lunch too. I usually just do chunks of food at lunch and no puree. When we eat supper you also eat pureed supper (vegetable and a fruit), and some chunks. I really think you could completely move to chunks but I still have pureed left over, so we are using it up. You are doing really good with chunks of food. So far you are not picky. You eat anything we give you, which is super nice!
Sleeping: Night sleeping has been the same. You sleep all night long. Well you don’t sleep all night, but you don’t need us in the middle of the night. Every now and then I will hear you talking, but you never cry for us, so talking is just fine with me! I am still oh so thankful that you don’t need us in the middle of the night anymore! Napping is so very random. Most of the time you sleep between 1-2 hours twice, and then one 30 min nap in the evening. Lately you have been really fighting me again on naps. You sleep 30-40 min each time, wake up and refuse to go back to sleep. When you do this, most of the time you are a little grumpy. I keep thinking you are going to get a tooth, so maybe your teeth are bothering you. Who knows!
Development: It is crazy how much each month brings so many different changes. You still aren’t crawling, but just recently you have been getting up on your hands and knees. You haven’t figured out how to move from there. You love giving “kisses”. Pretty much you put your lips to our cheeks and give us a little lick. I absolutely love it. If we give you a kiss first, you give us one back. Daddy is super special because every so often you will grab his face and give him a kiss right on the lips. It’s super sweet! This month you have really started to babble. You have always been a vocal little thing, but you are actually starting to make sounds. The first sound was ma. Which I am super proud of. When you first started saying it, I would repeat it and say “say mama”. You would repeat it. Since then I have heard ba, nom, mom, ga, and I am pretty sure I have heard da every now and then, oh and a whole lot of very loud screeching. It is so cute to see you light up and just squeal away at something. In these last few days you have also started going mmmmm. Most of the time when you are eating you will take a bite and go mmmmm or nom nom. As far as fine motor skills, your starting to be able to put food in your mouth. You pretty much have puffs mastered, but squishier, slippery food like cooked carrots and mangos you still have some trouble with. But that doesn’t stop you from making a mess!
A few things you are loving right now:
-Going on walks
-Dancing, when you hear music or if I sing, you will start bobbing up and down.
-Swinging, we took you to the park for the first time and pushed you on the swing. You were all smiles the whole time.
-Your talking stuffed dog
-Tags on clothes
-kicking your crib
-Wash cloths. When I bath you or try to wipe your face, you try and grab the rag. If you get ahold of it you put it in your mouth and suck. I usually don’t let you because I find it slightly gross, but one bath time before I used it I let you suck on it. After bath time was over and I was ready to get you out you somehow snagged the rag and and got a few sucks before I could nab the dirty rag away from you! You’re so goofy!
-watching videos of yourself, there is one in particular that makes you smile and laugh every time.
A few things your not to fond of:
-Having your face wiped after you eat.
A few things you are teaching us:
To continually enjoy each moment and soak in all the blessings of each stage. To enjoy the beauty of the moment and not rush through it.
We are so in love with you little girl. You are always so happy and smiley, we can’t but help be in a good mood around you. You are our little sunshine.
