We drove to Paducah Kentucky Wednesday night and stayed in a hotel. It was about 2 hours away from Nashville. This was the first fairly long trip we have taken with babycakes, so we decided to break up the trip a little on the way down. This little stinker was awake and rearing to go at 6 in the morning. So we ate breakfast and started our trip to Nashville!
We really didn’t know what to do with our time in Nashville, and didn’t have a ton of it. So we stopped by the Grand Ole Opry Hotel and walked around. That place was really cool! Of course, Loren being the garden guy he is, absolutely loved it! He decided we need to come back and actually stay in the hotel next time!
Didn’t seem like very long before we had to head to Dave’s studio! So much I still wanted to do, but I think Loren is finally convinced that Nashville isn’t so bad, and wants to go back! He is more of a country guy, so getting him to the city is pretty hard. I know we will be visiting my brother in Alabama now, so we have lots of excuses to stop in Nashville!
Friday was concrete pouring day! The weather was iffy, chance of rain predicted for Friday and Saturday. They took their chances and decided to pour on Friday. They asked if I wanted to help. Now I have no clue what I am doing when it comes to concrete, but I am always willing to learn. Turns out stamping isn’t so hard after all 🙂 My dad and brother Daron finished the poured concrete, and I helped Loren stamp. We used a powder color to get the concrete to be a different color from the normal concrete color, hence the absolute mess!!
We stamped a slate for the porch and patio, and wood plank for their 4 seasons room. The wood plank turned out amazing! I told Loren next patio we pour is going to be the wood!
It was actually pretty fun to get absolutely filthy! Plus Loren told me I did a really good job helping him. I made sure to ask him if he was just lying to make me feel good, but he promised he wasn’t, I really did good! Woo hoo!
The rest of the time in Alabama was spent with family. It was great seeing my nieces and nephew again. They absolutely loved playing with Kina!
And of course she got lots of snuggles with Grandma and Grandpa!
We drove the 8 1/2 hours back on Sunday, Kina did really good with it. She of course was very excited to get out of her carseat, but was a super good sport about it when she was in it!
