I was recently able to test the Skater Dress pattern for Dandelions and Dungarees. I am always on the look out for cute comfy dresses so when I saw she needed testers I jumped on the opportunity! This dress comes in ladies and girls sizes and features princess seams on the bodice and a pleated skirt. It comes with three different options for sleeves: a tank, cap sleeves, or ruched sleeves. I didn’t have enough knit fabric on hand so I had to run and get some. I ended up trying Walmart since it was so close. I know I know, it wasn’t my first choice, actually more like my last choice, but with a tiny child in tow you do what you gotta do! I ended up finding this fabric for $1 a yard! Worked for me, we will see how it holds up!
I had a lot of fun sewing this dress. I hadn’t really worked with pleats that much, so it was fun learning! The pattern called for knit fabric, which is what I did this time, but I have in mind of trying out a knit bodice and a woven skirt next time! I know I will be making more of these dresses in the near future. Dresses are seriously my favorite garment. All I have to do it put it on and I am good to go. I don’t have to mess around trying to match a top and bottom. Its the simple things that make me happy!
