My dear sweet Kina-
Oh my how time flies, have I said that before 🙂 ?? My mama heart is all weepy right now, in a good way though! I can’t believe you are going to be one. It makes me so sad that time is going so fast. I feel like it was just yesterday when I saw you waving your little nubins at the first sono! Then finding out you were a girl. Then meeting you and watching you grow into our precious little girl who has completely stolen our hearts. I keep thinking I can’t love you anymore than I do, but somehow you squeeze even more love from my heart as you grow bigger and bigger. I keep thinking this is the best stage, but as you grow I keep loving them more and more. There are days when you give us a run for our money and keep us on our toes, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It all goes into the beauty of raising a child.
Naps: 2 naps a day.
Sleeping: At night from 7PM to 6:00-6:15.
Eating: what we eat for breakfast, lunch, and supper. Plus snacks and bottles.
Clothing: Anywhere from 9 to 12 months.
Weight: 20 pounds 12 ounces
Eating: You still eat pretty much everything. There are some things you act like you don’t like, but then end up eating anyway. You have your preferences, but will eat it all eventually. I usually have to wait to give you fruit until after you have eaten your other food. When fruit comes into the picture, you want fruit and only fruit. You may act full, but are never too full to devour fruit. We usually cut you off, otherwise you just keep eating it. This month you discovered you love tomatoes. Yes raw tomatoes. Crazy kiddo! I am not complaining at all, I just never expected my kid to beg for tomatoes. Loren took you out to the garden one evening, only to turn around and see you happily munching on a whole tomato. Juices running down your shirt. Since then if you see a tomato you beg. They were sitting on our counter waiting to be made into salsa one day and you spotted them. You stretched your little arm as long as you could trying to reach them. Then plopped down and crawled to me begging. As long as we have garden tomatoes, you get a few slices at super, which you happily devour! You are really starting to show a disinterest in your bottles. You normally eat a full 8 ounces when you wake up, but the second bottle is hard pressed to get 6 ounces. I plan to ask the doctor how much you really should be getting. It’s not like I can force you to drink it, so I assume it’s ok. First time mom thing maybe? I don’t know what I am doing!
Sleeping: Same old same old here. Bed time at 7, wake up around 6. Nap for about 1 1/2 hours in morning then in afternoon again.
Development: It is so much fun watching you learn and make connections. This month you really seemed to grow up. I can see the little wheels turning and learning! You learned how to play peekaboo. You will randomly decide to play. You put something over your head and patiently wait for one of us to ask “where did Kina go?” You learned how to actually brush your hair, and can drink out of your sippy cup by yourself now. Before you didn’t understand the concept of tipping it up. You just sat there and sucked with no results. Your attention span is much greater, you will just sit and look at a book all by yourself. You turn the pages and if I didn’t know better it would seem you were actually reading it. You really are aware of your surroundings and take everything in. You can follow one step commands, and really do understand a lot.
A few things you are loving right now:
-Going on walks/bike rides
-Going on walks/bike rides
-Holding mommy’s phone while veggies tales plays on it.
-Looking at books
-Dolls and your teddy, anything with a face
-Taking all of mommies shoes off the shelf
You have a book that talks about how God made you special and he loves you very much. It is my favorite to read to you. It just is such an awesome experience to see you grow from a tiny little heartbeat to this radiant happy kiddo. It is truly a miracle and there is no doubt in my mind that God formed each and every part of you and made you exactly how he wants you. He has a plan for you, and it is so awesome to see fresh life. Life before the cares of life have weighed on it heavily. The pure joy and excitement of a life that holds no grudges and loves you even when you mess up. Raising a kiddo has taught me so much. It is a truly beautiful aspect of life I can’t imagine not being able to experience. I am so thankful God trusted me with you. In teaching and raising you, you also teach me. Teach me so much. Happy one year baby girl, you are so incredibly loved.
