I was recently able to test the super cute Hatteras Hoodie pattern by Hey June Handmade. First of all I can’t say enough good things about Adriana the owner of Hey June. I love her blog and all of her patterns. They are very well put together and very professional. She designs comfy clothes that are also stylish! I was super excited to test for her. I am really hoping this cute pattern comes out in my size too one day!
There are three views with the Hatteras Hoodie pattern. I tested view B which is a high low sweatshirt. I am a sucker for high low and love this style. When I saw the call for testers go out I was super excited an applied for it. There wasn’t a size chart so I used another pattern I had just made for Kina as a guide size wise, and figured it would work. I was wrong Kina was to small for it, so I felt a little silly! So I asked a friend if I could try it on her girl to give Adriana the fit pictures of the first sweater that was insanely big on Kina! I still may find a way to alter it to make it fit Kina now, since I have an adorable pair of floral leggings that match it perfectly! Plus I am impatient and fall is coming and I don’t want to wait till she is big enough for it! 🙂
So the second sweater I made I altered it a bit so I could have one right now to fit Kina. I simply made the neckline smaller by 3/4″, shortened the sleeves by an inch, and used a bigger seam allowance. The neck is still slightly big, but for a slouchy sweatshirt, it is perfect in my opinion. So if you have a kiddo that NEEDS this pattern, but is too small, you can make it work! The design of view B is to be more cropped, but since I didn’t alter the length at all when I made the second one, it was longer on Kina, which I really do like. I like the cropped look though too!
The fabric I used is from Girl Charlee. It came in my knit fix from July and at first glance I was like meh, I am not really in love. Not sure what I will do with it. But now that I used it on this pattern, I am super in love with it. It is so fall like and soft and comfy. It is a Hacci knit. I think I may need to make myself something out of it. Me and Kina can be twinsies! I will try and steal all the match time I can before she gets to cool to match mom!
I really love this pattern and highly recommend it. I love supporting indie designers and Hey June Handmade patterns will not disappoint. With three different views, you will have lots of options for fall sewing with one single pattern! Double bonus two views are gender neutral so this pattern is seriously awesome! You will get so much use out of it! Check it out!
