The Fishtail Kimono by Chalk and Notch is a super cute and fun pattern for kids. My little peanut is very petite for her age so she doesn’t yet fit into this pattern. I couldn’t wait to make it so I made one for myself using the largest size! I don’t have any kimono’s in my closet so I figured my upcoming trip to the Virgin Islands would be the perfect excuse to finally make one and the perfect place to wear it. What better reason to hack a kids pattern for an adult?!
The largest size technically still didn’t have as much ease based on my chest measurement but I was ok with that. I love the fit on me! I didn’t adjust the sleeve length or ease, but I did add 4″ to the length of the kimono. I think adding 4″ was the perfect amount, it hits me exactly where I want it to!
The pattern is very detailed and well laid out. The directions are very easy to follow with lots of pictures for all the visual learners!! I was amazed at how easy it was to sew up and how fast it went!!
I absolutely love the fun fishtail detail at the back. It makes the Kimono very unique! I know I will be making this for my daughter when she gets big enough, and I may have to add more to my own closet! 🙂
