I was super excited to be able to test the Lisbon Cardigan for Itch to Stitch. I wear cardigans a ton and was looking for a good basic cardigan pattern and this was just what I was looking for! The Lisbon Cardigan comes in sizes 00-20 and includes two versions, a cropped cardigan and a regular cardigan. It also includes two sleeve options, full length and 3/4 length.
I sewed up the regular length cardigan with 3/4 length sleeves. The first version I made, I used a haci knit for the cardigan, and a heavier rib knit for the cuffs and bottom. The two fabrics didn’t go well together and ended bunching up at the seam. It was my muslin so I learned not to mix light weight and heavier weight fabrics together for this pattern. The second one I made, I chose a light weight very stretchy rib knit for the fabric. I also added a lace overlay to the front by first basting the lace on. I probably should have sized down on this version as it was very stretchy and unstable. I can always take it in a little. I am super obsessed with mint and lace so this cardigan is exactly what I was envisioning! It will get worn many times!
The directions are very easy to follow and it came together very nicely! She even included directions on a hong kong finish for the inside if desired!
I know I will be making many more of these. They are simple, easy, and so practical!
