Now that the front pockets are assembled, it is time to sew the front placket on for version one! If you are sewing version two, the next sew along post will cover that!
Version one features a full button placket. Today we will talk about how to attach the placket to this version!
You will start by interfacing both plackets with a light weight, non-stretch interfacing. If you are using a very heavy denim, you may not need to interface.
Lay right side of placket onto wrong side of front skirt piece.
Stitch in place.
Open placket and turn skirt so it is facing right side up. Trim seam allowance to 1/4” and press toward placket. Press raw edge of placket 1/2” (1.25cm) to wrong side.
Fold placket over onto right side of skirt front. Press and pin placket in place.
Using topstitching thread, topstitch 1/8” (.3cm) from edge. Topstitch again 1/8” (.3cm) from folded edge. Repeat steps for opposite side.
And you are all done! Version one placket is easy peasy to attach!
