Baby gifts are so fun to make! I love deciding what to make and what fabric to use. I also love how I can use up some left over fabric scraps for things like bow ties or boys or hair bows for girls! One of my friends recently had a baby and for her shower, I made her some fun little boy things!
For the shirts, I went with the Recess Raglan pattern by See Kate Sew. I sewed it in size 18 months. I always hate deciding whether the baby will need short sleeve or long sleeve. Since the size of children vary so much even counting the months always makes me nervous. What if they are bigger, or smaller?? I ended up deciding on long sleeves as that is the season little man will hit, but I told her if long sleeves don’t work I will hack them off into short sleeves! It is much easier to shorten than lengthen ;).
For one shirt, I decided to appliqué some lettering on. I absolutely love all the cute shirts and their sayings, but to keep it simple for appliqué reasons, I went with basic letters that spelled handsome! Sometimes simple is better anyway!
The grey triangle fabric is by Riley blake and the yellow and blue striped fabric was a Girl Charlee Knit Fix (affiliate link). Both fabrics were so soft and great to work with! Not to mention super cute too!
I also made up a pair of suede moccasins in size 0-3 months using a modified Lil’ Papoose Moccasin pattern from Peekaboo Pattern Shop. Baby moccasins are my go to baby gift! Everyone loves them and they are just too stinking cute! I love that I got suede in my last order of scrap leather from Peggy Sue Also. It is so soft, and I feel like it is perfect for the newborn age!
To finish off the gift, I made two bowties for the little man. Because what is cuter than a little man in a bowtie?! The bowties have a simple alligator clip on the back for easy wearing!
I also added a few burp rags to the gift. My little lady was a spitter and so I really appreciated a cute burp rag that absorbed well! I found my favorite was a terry cloth backed burp rag.
What is your favorite baby gift to give? Do you have a go to gift to make like my moccasins?!
