Awhile back I began working on my latest pattern. I absolutely love tunics and could live in them so I decided to do a knit tunic. I also was really loving the cold shoulder trend so I decided to add a cold shoulder option. I have the pattern all drafted and graded, but ended up giving it a rest for a bit. We decided to work on something different with The Ruffled Stitch so I am not sure if or when I will complete this pattern. I am sure the cold shoulder trend will be long over by the time I decide ;).
I did draft up normal sleeves as well. When making this tunic for myself I opted for the normal sleeves. I am starting to become more and more intentional about my wardrobe and I wanted something I would love for forever. Honestly, I am not sure how long I will love the cold shoulder trend. I recently bought the book The Curated Closet and have begun reading it. I am absolutely loving it so far. I am starting to really hone in on my style and not just sew up the latest trend. I have also noticed I gravitate toward basic un-patterened pieces in my closet. I am excited to share more about my Curated Closet experience!
I decided to go with a plain black because I know it will go with everything and be a mix and match piece in my closet. I used a Rayon/Spandex mix from Fabric.com and it is so comfy! I know this shirt will be on major repeat in my closet.
I have a huge dissatisfaction with the look of a zig zag stitch to hem and double needles and I don’t always get along so I ended up rolling the sleeve hem and tacking it down with a few tiny stitches. It adds a different look and I really like it! Since the bottom hem is a circle skirt, I did a normal stitch on that.
I can’t resist a good twirl in a twirly top 😉
